![]() ![]() When restarting TB now the restart takes only a couple of seconds (=normal startup). So what I did to test things out is shutting down MS Outlook and deleteing all those OST files. You can see that in the Procmon Screenshot. ![]() There's lots of errors while doing that but it seems to me as if Thunderbird actually reads the physical OST files from the drive. I noticed that Thunderbird, when starting up, is accessing thousands of MS Office Reg Keys and value, checks for Outlook OST files and reads those files. So I downloaded Microsofts Process Monitor Tool ( ) and analyzed things. I read online that Thunderbird goes through all Inboxes in some cases and if there's a lot of accounts and e-mails in those inboxes, it can become very slow. ![]() I found out via Task Manager that the Thunderbird process, when starting up, before showing the window, reads about 1GB of data from the harddrive. Today I took the time to dig into more details. From creating a new profile up to a complete computer re-install (switching from Windows 10 to 11 also). To be more accurate, if you’re running Thunderbird 91.12.0, open the About Thunderbird dialog from the Help menu or by clicking on the small (i) icon next to the version number in the main window and upgrade to Thunderbird 102.1.2.I am experiencing an enourmously slow startup (1 hour or more for TB to start) since the Thunderbird 102.x upgrade. Until today, as now Thunderbird 91 users can finally upgrade to Thunderbird 102. To be more precise, Thunderbird 102 was only offered as a direct download and not as an upgrade from Thunderbird 91 or earlier. More than a month and a half after the release of Thunderbird 102, the development team behind the popular Mozilla Thunderbird open-source email, news, calendar, and chat client opened the upgrade path from the previous stable series, Thunderbird 91.Īpart from Thunderbird 102, which is currently the latest stable series of the open-source email client, the Mozilla Thunderbird developers are also maintaining the Thunderbird 91 series, which is an ESR (Extended Support Release) branch.īoth branches are currently maintained, but, as with previous releases, there wasn’t possible to upgrade from the previous one to the latest stable version using the built-in upgrader. ![]()
